WELCOME to our 2019-2020 School Year - and FIRSTGRADE! :)
My name is Mrs. Lizarraga, and I also go by Mrs. L.
I have taught 15 years here at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, and also 2 years prior to that -all in Kindergarten and First Grade. I did teach a combination class of 1st and 2nd as well, which gave me even greater insight into what support my First Grade Leaders need in order to be 2nd grade ready by the end of this school year.
Mt. Pleasant is full of inspiring teachers, hard-working scholars, and their supportive families! Our Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade team of teachers work very closely together to empower all of our students with support for personal and academic success! We often plan together, collaborate and do what we can for our scholars, and even meet together outside of school to "Sharpen the Saw".
I spent most of my youth and college years empowering children, youth, and young adults in my many leadership, chairing, directing, and coaching roles. I received my Bachelors of Science degree from San Jose State University, and my Teaching Credential from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. I am honored to work with the San Jose teachers participating in the Yale National Initiative (YNI), including 3 years representing the Mount Pleasant Elementary School District as a YNI fellow. In moments of "Sharpening the Saw" - I love writing, listening to music, adventuring with friends and family, trying new things, and mostly anything that can be done at the beach!
I will be using ClassDojo again, and have greatly appreciated this mode of communication with parents and families of my scholars. Please feel free to join me there, get class info, and contact me through messages.
